Narrow is the way.

Over the past few months, ive had the sensation of being sucked into a funnel, but oddly the broad end is downwards and the narrow end is pointing up.

I sat infront of the Cardston temple, thinking, wondering what i was going to do with myself. i was lost and confused, angry and sad.  and as i sat in the courtyard infront of the temple, i noticed something.... the Gates... there were 3 rather wide entry ways... the parking lot had 2 massive entry ways, and behind me, at the temple, 2 small doors lead to one door which actually entered the temple proper.

The world is like a parking lot, everyone can get in easily, it requires on the effort to drive in.  the Courtyard required a bit more effort, after driving in, you have to get out, walk across the parking lot to the thresh-hold and walk through those gates.   As for entering the narrow doors on the sides that lead into the Temple, that required an effort of greater proportions, a concious effort before actually attempting to enter.

"Many are called but few are chosen.."  and why is that?  "... Narrow is the way.."  why is it narrow?  "if ye humble yourselves like unto a child.."  so i have to give up my will and submit myself like a child to their father?  "he that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."  so, are you telling me i have to sacrifice my time, my talents and my ambitions for that of some greater being? "blessed are the poor of spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted. blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven...."

so many promises for us to just humble ourselves, and strive to be someone who is called and not put our hearts on the "vain things of the world"

I love the gospel, i love who its made me into, and who its helping me become.  I Love our Heavenly Father, for giving it to us, and for the continual instruction we received from his profets. I Love the Holy Ghost for the guidance, and the testimonies he gives us.  I Love Jesus Christ for his sacrifice for our sins.  I Love Julie, and for her sweet soul.
